JONATHAN VAN VOORHEES

Jonathan Van Voorhees - was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and raised in Bossier City where he attended Plantation Park Elementary School, Parkway Junior High School, Bossier High and Airline High Schools. He briefly attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana as a fine arts major, and later Tennessee State University as a Radio and Television Communications major. He was involved in theatrical productions in Nashville with the Circle Players at he Tennessee Performing Arts Center as well as Vanderbilt theater. He also attended Southern Methodist University where he received certification as a UNIX administrator and C programmer. After working as an IT consultant for several Fortune 500 companies he decided to pursue film production as a career. He is currently in post-production of the feature film "Project Clear Vision."

2005 Produced and Directed "Pink" - A visual adaptation of poetry by Elizabeth Margaret Mackinzie

2004 Produced and Directed “Now They Bury Her Again” - A visual adaptation of Carl Sandburg’s poem by the same name.

2003 Sponsored and MCd the Fuzion Poetry Slam - Organized and promoted the slam, posted the prize money, created the Fuzion Slam Rules, hosted and MCd the slam, encouraged "performance" type slamming - produced several poetry performance pieces for the slam

2002 Assistant House Manager – Dallas Theater Center - Responsible for all house management activities I the absence of the Patron Services Manager. Responsible for guest needs prior to and during the performance, opening the house, supervising ushers, usher orientation, crowd management, late seating, communicating house needs and situations to the stage manager, closing the house, managing box office and house seats.

1993 Produced "As Seen on TV" - Dallas, TX Responsible for all facets of production.

1992 Produced roundtable discussion of Dallas Film Commission - Dallas, TX - all facets of production.

1992 Produced "The Promise" documentary of 1992 Presidential campaign - Dallas, TX - all facets of production.

1992 Wrote and Produced "Chan: The Mystery of the Missing Jade" Dinner Theater - Dallas, TX - all facets of production.

1990 Produced "Channel Z" video montage - Dallas, TX - all facets of production.

1986 Freelance Producer and Director of TV Commercials - All aspects of production. Developed concepts, wrote scripts, scheduled shoots, cast the commercials, directed, ran camera, edited, scored, etc.

1982 Produced "The Dream" for The Poets Workshop - Robert Traas Director - I was responsible for funding, all fiscal matters, planning, budgeting, production schedules, casting, writing, and co-directing the play.

1981 Produced music video-demo for the Smashers Nashville Responsible for concept, casting, direction, editing, and some camera for the video

1981 Period hair styles for "Oh What a Lovely War" Vanderbilt Theater - Nashville, TN - Provided concept, design, and execution of period hairstyles from the early nineteen hundreds

1976 Bamberger in Black Comedy - LA Tech Theater - My one and only stage appearance unless you count the third grade talent show

1976 Set and prop construction for Black Comedy - LA Tech Theater - Assisted with the construction of sets, flats, and props

1974 Assisted with costumes - Marjorie Lyons Playhouse Centenary College - I was responsible for assisting the Costume designer with fitting and sewing costumes. Bob Busick managing director.


1996 Founder of The Word (DFW Arts) arts magazine - Dallas, TX - I was responsible for the concept, writing, editing, advertising, layout, printing during the first year of publication. I was also responsible for development of the complimentary web site.

1996 Organized the Dallas Arts Summit at the Sammons Center, JoAnna StAngelo Director - Dallas, TX - Coordinated and supervised all aspects of organization, and execution for this area wide arts conference.

1995 Chair of the Research & Resources committee of the Dallas Film Commission Task Force, Frank Hernandez Commissioner - Dallas, TX -
Responsible for collecting information on other film commissions. Conducted the only survey of film professionals conducted in the past 30 years. Responsible for the final report to the commission.
